Engineer (m/f/d) Advanced Product Development

Location: Luxembourg

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead Advanced Product Development projects from concept to SOP, using a corporate development process, to be realized through internal and/or external partners
  • Follow product roadmaps from our Product Managers and direction from the Product Owner as basis for self-sufficient planning of development activities to reach development milestones in time and within budget
  • Coordinate, build and analyze prototypes, samples and concepts in close cooperation with our labs and production lines
  • Provide design, prototype & validation support for improving existing product
  • Serve as a backup or relay companion to other APD engineers from different regions
  • Initiate / participate in the IP management process
  • Understand manufacturing processes in Webasto and outside, required for series production of new products at highest quality and lowest cost levels
  • Keep close relationship to Program Management and Sales Managers to understand cost and price impacts of developments. Use design-to-cost as a means to stay competitive with new product features.
  • Visit new and established suppliers looking for advances in new technology, status of existing product, opportunities for cost saving, current capabilities and supporting root cause analysis
  • Foster relationships with universities and outside labs
  • Participate in advanced RFQ preparation for new product quoting

Your qualification:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, physics, optics or related field or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years’ experience in relevant role with career progression
  • Automotive experience would be a plus as well as the knowledge in materials such as glass, coatings and plastics
  • Product design experience including GD&T and DFMEA
  • Working knowledge of automotive customer testing and performance specifications
  • Experience with strategic planning, positioning and messaging, forecasting, budgeting and analysis of business situations, competitive profiles and pricing analysis.
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Analytical, customer and result oriented mindset
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis
  • Cooperate within teams in different locations to carry out tasks and responsibilities
  • Business fluent English is mandatory, German language skills a plus
