Engineer (m/f/d) Advanced Product Development

Location: Luxembourg

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead Advanced Product Development (APD) projects from concept to Start of Production (SOP) using a corporate development process, collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Follow product roadmaps provided by Product Managers and direction from the Product Owner to self-sufficiently plan development activities, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate, build, and analyze prototypes, samples, and concepts in close cooperation with labs and production lines.
  • Provide design, prototype, and validation support to improve existing products.
  • Serve as a backup or relay companion to other APD engineers in different regions.
  • Initiate and participate in the Intellectual Property (IP) management process.
  • Understand manufacturing processes, both internal and external, necessary for series production of new products at the highest quality and lowest cost.
  • Maintain close relationships with Program Management and Sales Managers to understand cost and pricing impacts of developments, using design-to-cost strategies to remain competitive.
  • Visit new and established suppliers to explore advances in technology, assess existing products, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support root cause analysis.
  • Foster relationships with universities and external labs.
  • Participate in preparing advanced Requests for Quotation (RFQ) for new product quoting.

Your Qualification:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, physics, optics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant role with career progression.
  • Automotive experience is a plus, along with knowledge of materials such as glass, coatings, and plastics.
  • Experience in product design, including GD&T and DFMEA.
  • Working knowledge of automotive customer testing and performance specifications.
  • Experience with strategic planning, positioning, messaging, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis of business situations, competitive profiles, and pricing analysis.
  • Advanced/Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical, customer-focused, and results-oriented mindset.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving and analysis.
  • Ability to cooperate with teams across different locations to achieve tasks and responsibilities.
  • Business fluent in English is mandatory; German language skills are a plus.
